OVERVIEW
Building on the success of Mana Tupuna 1.0, Mana Tupuna 2.0 reconnects historic Rapa Nui carvings with their origin stories and cultural context. Using photogrammetry and laser scanning, this project creates 3D models of the ancient Moai Kavakava, allowing Rapanui elders to share the carvings' stories and significance with youth in Rapa Nui, the USA, and Tahiti. By reuniting these artifacts with their community, Mana Tupuna 2.0 supports the cultural sovereignty of the Rapanui people, blending Indigenous knowledge and technology to preserve their heritage for generations to come.
